War in Afghanistan
There were many people involved in the Afghanistan war. One of them was the U.S and it's president George W. Bush. The Taliban were involved in the war. Japan gave us navy ships while the U.K , Australia, New Zealand also helped. Osama bin laden and Al Qaeda were the ones responsible for the 9/11 attacks.
When did it happen?
The Afghanistan war happened in 2001, and began with the 9/11 attacks also in 2001. Operation Enduring Freedom began October 7th,2001. The twin towers after 9/11 attacks. |
Where did it happen?
The war happened in Afghanistan including the cities of Kabul and Tora Bora. It also happened in Kandahar. The mountains of Kabul |
Why did it happen?
It happened because the U.S. Believed the Taliban were allowing Osama and Al-Qaeda to hide in the mountains and the Taliban were giving them WMD'S (weapons of mass destruction). Below is a picture of Al-Qaeda. |
Effects of U.S. Involvement
As stated earlier, the U.S. needed to get involved because they didn't want the terrorist group responsible for 9/11 attacks with weapons of mass destruction. Some effects of U.S. involvement are that because we went to Afghanistan the Taliban are no longer in power. Osama bin laden was tried and executed. Afghanistan is now a Democracy with a president now because of U.S involvement. Also 15 million Afghans were killed in this war.
